The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society successfully conducted a practical session on Arduino for the second year on 16th November 2023 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm in room 210, CSE Department. This session was attended by around 40 members. This Arduino practical session aimed to provide hands-on experience in electronics and programming to the participants. The session included the implementation of two projects: a Traffic Light System and a Servo Motor Control project.
The first project involved the creation of a simulated traffic light system using Arduino. Participants were introduced to basic electronic components, such as LEDs, resistors, and jumper wires, and learned how to connect them to the Arduino board. The programming aspect covered the use of conditional statements to control the sequencing of the traffic. Participants actively did this project with a lot of enthusiasm and energy. They have tried it in different ways and experimented on code by giving various inputs. The second project focused on servo motor control. Participants were introduced to servo motors and learned how to connect them to the Arduino. The session covered the principles of servo motor operation, including the use of PWM signals to control the motor’s position.
Throughout the session, participants encountered various challenges, such as wiring issues, syntax errors in the code, and logical errors in the program flow. These challenges provided valuable opportunities for problem -solving and debugging. The mentors actively engaged with the participants, encouraging them to troubleshoot issues independently and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
In the end, a quiz was taken where questions on various topics such as robotics, Arduino, servo motors, etc were asked. Many of them answered perfectly with great spirit and were attentive to the further questions as well. We appreciated their spontaneity and active participation by giving rewards.
Finally, feedback was given which is considered and promised to better the next session and we express our gratitude to the core committee members who guided the organizers throughout in conducting the session and also to all participants who accomplished this event on a positive note.
Thank you for all your support and attention.
