Guest lecture on Biomimicry ,held on 16th October 2024 conducted by the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) at Osmania University effectively equipped 100 participants. The event was a huge success, with the guest providing valuable insights and engaging the audience with their presentation.
The guest lecture commenced with a warm introduction of Professor Sabrina Jedlicka, Deputy Provost for Graduate Education at Lehigh University, USA, and a distinguished expert in the field of biomimicry. Professor Jedlicka’s extensive contributions to biomimicry, which bridges biological principles and engineering innovation, have earned her recognition
as a leader in the field.
The guest lecture began with an introduction to the fascinating world of optical phenomena, covering topics such as pigments and dyes, and iridescence. The speaker’s expertise and passion for the subject were evident throughout the presentation, and the audience was captivated by the interesting facts and examples shared.
The guest also took the opportunity to share some interesting facts and figures about Lehigh University, highlighting its rich history and academic excellence. The presentation concluded with a question and answer session, where the audience had the chance to engage with the guest and seek clarification on various topics.
Following the lecture, Professor Malini, Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department, presented a sapling and a certificate of appreciation from IEEE to the guest, as a token of gratitude for their time and expertise.
Karthik Barupatla, Vice Chair of IEEE EMBS, delivered a vote of thanks on behalf of the organisation, expressing appreciation for the guest’s contribution to the event. The event concluded with an informal interaction session, where a few students had the opportunity to personally interact with the guest, seeking advice and guidance on their academic and professional pursuits.
