IEEE Hyderabad Section

IEEE Hyderabad Section is one of the most active sections of IEEE in India. IEEE was formally introduced in Hyderabad, in June 1981, when a group of engineers in Hyderabad decided to form an IEEE sub-Section here. This sub-Section was rapidly elevated to a full Section, in 1984 (the year of IEEE Centenary celebrations).

All IEEE members, residing in the state of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, India, are automatically members of the IEEE Hyderabad Section. Our strength (in numbers) is 3707 members (as on 09 Feb. 2010). The section has NINE chapters – Computer Society (CS), Communication/SP Societies, Computational Intelligence/Geoscience and Remote Sensing Societies, CAS/EDS, Education Society, MTT/AP/EMC Societies, PES/IAS/PELS, Photonics Society, Technology and Engineering Management Society chapters.

University College Of Engineering, Osmania University

The University College of Engineering (UCE) has the distinction of being the oldest and the biggest among the Engineering Colleges of the State of Andhra Pradesh. Established in the year 1929, eleven years after the formation of Osmania University, it was the 6th Engineering College to be established in the whole of British India. The College moved to its present permanent building in the year 1947. Today it is the biggest among the campus colleges of Osmania University. The Golden Jubilee of the College was celebrated in 1979, the Diamond Jubilee in 1989 and the Platinum Jubilee in 2004. The College was made autonomous in 1994.

The institute provides immense support to students in developing their technical skills.

TEQIP-3

Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) was envisaged as a long-term programme of about 10-12 years duration to be implemented in 2-3 phases for transformation of the Technical Education System with the World Bank assistance.

As per TEQIP design, each phase is required to be designed on the basis of lessons learnt from the implementation of an earlier phase. TEQIP-I started a reform process in 127 Institutions. The reform process needs to be sustained and scaled-up for embedding gains in the system and taking the transformation to a higher level. To continue the development activities initiated through TEQIP-I, a sequel Project is planned as TEQIP-II. Currently, the TEQIP-3 program has been initiaited

TEQIP provides financial aid and support to the institute which in-turn provides facilities to the students.

EMC²

Engineer’s Music and Cultural Club (EMC²) is UCE, OU’s largest non-technical students’ run club which aims to enhance musical talents among college students and contribute in the overall development for engineering students. Events like Jam Sessions, Singing Completion, College band, guitar & other instrument classes and vocal enhancement training are some of the activities the club pursues. This club offers a great platform for our members to develop and grow in non-technical aspects.
